A cutting edge television network, Current TV, wanted to report real-time social media trends during the 2012 presidential conventions. The network needed a strategy to engage its audience through real-time social conversations both on television and online.
During the conventions, Current TV is taking the unprecedented move of devoting half of its screen to a stream of relevant Tweets during its broadcasts. A team of producers is hand curating the Tweets to feature on screen using the Mass Relevance platform, ensuring only the highest quality content makes it on air.
In addition to the television integration, Current TV is providing an online social dashboard with innovative visualizations powered by Mass Relevance. The social dashboard features dynamic bubbles representing political conversations. The bubbles are color coded by topic, issue, political affiliation, location, and media. The bubbles grow and decrease in size along with social activity. Visitors can click on the bubbles to delve into the conversations. Streams of curated Tweets are also integrated into the social dashboard. Visitors can tag the Tweets they consider to be smart or funny.
