4 Ways to Increase Your Networking ROI at Summit

We’re so glad you’ve made it to Austin and we hope you’re as excited about the next three days as we are. You already know you’re in for serious social marketing ROI at #SFSummit, thanks to inspirational keynotes and jam-packed breakout sessions alike. You’re stoked to watch what happens (wink) with Andy Cohen and prepped to take furious notes in value-driven sessions like "The Bottom Line: Creating and Defining Value in Social" and "The Future of Smart Social Campaigns."

But what about the other element of any great conference—have you prepped to get the most out of your #SFsummit networking experience? If you haven't, let us guide you with four great tips to connect with, learn from, and stay in touch with your peers:

1. Attend the Opening Reception

The Austin air is crisp and cool in autumn: Breathe it in and say hello to fellow attendees at our opening reception, held on the Music Porch of the magnetic Austin City Limits theater. Remember to bring business cards and share a good story. This is the time to check in, chill out, and charm. For some this comes easy, for others there are delicious margaritas and drinks that should loosen you up and get you into the Austin’s laid back vibe.

2. Flock to the Birds of a Feather Breakfasts

Led by Spredfast’s expert Customer Partner team and both interactive and discussion-based, the Birds of a Feather roundtables will tackle niche topics around social. Learn from experts, provide your own insight, and get your questions answered on specific areas of interest, such as how to create efficiencies with small teams, build engagement at live events, plan for retail launches, and empower global teams.

3. Recharge at the Party at Fair Market

When it comes to picking up or dropping knowledge, social events are as important as the sessions. On Tuesday evening, connect over cocktails and tunes on the Eastside of Austin. The Party will be at the Fair Market, a modern warehouse venue. Expect a full dinner, drinks from Deep Eddy Vodka, and a musical performance by Red Baraat. We're keeping it hassle-free with transportation to and from the event. Whether you consider it a networking opportunity or Summit's intermission, there’s just no reason not to make your way to East #ATX.

4. Break Away for a Margarita Clásica

All networking and no play? No way. Here are some of the best margaritas within a stone's throw of Summit.

1 | La Condesa, the place that tastes as good as it looks. That's a rare bird, folks. Step up to the bar and order La Clásica, a balanced mix of El Jimador Silver, Patrón Citrónge, lime juice, agave nectar, and cactus-infused salt rim. Yes, please.

2 | Hop over to hip East Austin and stop at the front steps of Licha’s Cantina. Situated in a quintessential East Austin home, you’ll find this delicious and unique signature Watermelon Jalapeño Margarita made with watermelon-infused Espolón tequila, lime, Combier orange liqueur, and a spicy chili rim. Visit during their happy hour from 4 - 7 p.m. and it’s a mere five dollars.

3 | For those who want to stay put after a full day of learning, there's the Living Room Bar at the W Hotel. Their Jorge Margarita is an exciting remix on a classic, with Casamigos Blanco tequila, crème de violette, agave, lime, and grapes. And unlike most hotspots, their happy hour is seven days a week from 7-10 p.m. Salty sweetness awaits your taste buds. Order up!

Well, that's it for now. Did I cover everything you need to know to "kill it" at networking? Of course not! But hopefully, you’re slightly more prepared to take advantage of the opportunities available to you at Summit. Welcome, and feel free to snag me if you need an insider food rec or someone to finish your margarita. Cheers!
