#TBT: Remember When SXSW was #soSpredfast?

SXSW 2014 was a whirlwind of music, networking, bbq, panels, tacos, hashtags, beers, pedicabs, tweeting, and Austin-excellence. This was Spredfast’s 4th SXSW and we’d say it was one for the books. The week kicked off with our annual Spredfast Social Bash at Speakeasy where the Spredfast community came together for a night of cutting loose in preparation for the busy week ahead. Austin-natives, Band of Heathens played an awesome set to get things started.


On Saturday, you could find us at the Convention Center. Our CMO, Jim Rudden spoke about how measuring social program impact has evolved in his Future15 session: Keeping Score in Social, It’s More than Likes. Jordan Slabaugh, our Director of MarCom,  participated on a panel about content as the new advertising at OMMA at SXSW. Monday was the biggest day of SXSW for Spredfast that started with a private panel hosted by our CMO Jim Rudden, featuring DigitasLBi’s Anne-Marie Kline, Altimeter Group’s Brian Solis, Coca-Cola’s Ashley Brown, Hyatt’s Dan Moriarty. The panel spoke about “Conversation as the New Currency: Breaking through the Social Noise in a World of Oversharing.” For a full panel wrap up, check out this blog recap from Digitas.


Our second annual SXSW Spredfast Connect event kicked off later that afternoon at Stubbs where social leaders from the worlds largest brands came together to eat BBQ, drink Texas beer and do what we do best: talk social. Common themes from the event were: identifying and engaging unique social communities, redefining real time marketing & getting in front of the expectations of social customers. Spredfast wrapped up SXSW with our first (and not our last) concert featuring world famous electronic music artist, Girl Talk. It was the biggest dance party during Interactive and a night we certainly won’t forget for a very long time!
