Tis the Season to Start Screaming: Fandango's Halloween Campaign is Sure to Make You Shriek

Scaring season is in full swing and Fandango is feeling the Halloween spirit. The moviegoer mogul partnered with Mass Relevance to create Halloween hype with the creation of a Scream-Off social contest.

Fandango’s turning the camera to audiences who are starring in their own short, horror clips. From the beginning of October leading up to Halloween, scary movie fans are encouraged to submit their most hair-raising social videos to be judged in a screaming competition. Contestants upload Instagram Videos or Vine recordings to Fandango’s House of Screams page using the hashtag #FandangoScreamContest and @Fandango. The phased competition features a “Scream of the Day” that is selected to move on to the next round, and viewers are encouraged to vote for their favorite to win the Ultimate Screamer title. Below that is an evergreen section for “Newest Screamers” in the form of a gridded Tweet stream. This is Fandango’s first-ever digital content platform that is built to do more than just terrify; Fandango is also featuring original and exclusive video and editorial content to engage their consumers in the spine-chilling fun. Aggregating their creepy content to a special headquarters for their spook-loving community is their way of spreading “holiday cheer” to festive users.

A Grand Prize Worth Screaming For

On Halloween, Guns ‘N ‘Roses Hall of Fame guitarist Slash will crown the winner who also wins round-trip airfare for two to the haunted Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, Colorado. For fascinated horror flick enthusiasts, this hotel was the inspiration for The Shining. Their two-night stay is all part of the Ghost Adventure Package that also includes two glow-in-the-dark Stanley Hotel squishy ghosts and two REDRUM mugs. The winner will also receive a $500 Visa gift card to spend on their trip.
