What New Instagram Analytics Mean for Spredfast Customers

As part of my role at Spredfast, I get a bird’s eye view into all of the projects underway with our social network partners. Many of those things are behind the scenes, so it’s a real treat for me to get to tell you about one of the projects that our team has been working on.

Earlier today, Instagram announced that for the first time they’ve released APIs that will provide partners like Spredfast with more robust insights and analytics including post-level insights and account-level demographics.

For the past several months, Spredfast has been partnering closely with Instagram to test and provide feedback on the new API functionality that was released today.

So what does this mean for Spredfast customers?

More insights = better content. Instagram is the place for brands to inspire and seed discovery of their products in a visual way. For the first time ever, tracking post-level metrics like impressions, reach, saves and video views can happen inside Spredfast.

More Instagram insights = better Instagram content.

 

"Instagram’s new API will help our customers craft even better experiences for their audiences,” explains Kevin Morris, Senior Vice President of Product at Spredfast. “Spredfast is excited to build on these new features to seamlessly bring together Instagram metrics into one place.”

Instagram is also providing account-level data, including impressions, reach and follows. Even new account-level actions like taps to call, email, get directions or visit your website are tracked in the API. But the information I am most excited about? Instagram is now providing us with rich demographic and audience data about a profile’s followers, like gender, locale and country.

With more data in Spredfast, slicing, dicing, and sharing insights on simple, elegant reports as part of your dashboards and exports will be easier than ever. Spredfast customers can now roll up multiple Instagram accounts to compare to each other or even against other social networks. Imagine being able to track a single campaign across multiple Facebook and Instagram accounts with our structured labels. These insights can easily be shared with leaders across your organization—ultimately helping you to make better, faster business decisions about your content and strategy.

In the coming months, we will be rolling out new Instagram metrics to customers as part of our new analytics environment that is currently in beta.

What you can do to get ready:

If you haven’t already done so, convert your Instagram profile to a Business Profile on Instagram. You’ll need to set up a Business Profile in order to access these new features in Spredfast in the future.
